Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the economy of Malaysians, as well as many sections of society who have lost their source of income or ancillary income. This problem directly cannot be solved by simply providing facilities to the victims but requires high costs for the development and management of zakat units. As such, the issues and problems of this study necessarily need a solution. The objective of this study is first to understand the concept of zakat and its impact on the socio-economic situation during the covid-19 pandemic, second to study the challenges in managing zakat funds and third to find solutions in managing zakat during the covid-19 pandemic in Terengganu. This research was conducted on four staff from MAIDAM. The data that have been analyzed are to assess and study the understanding and knowledge of the impact of zakat on the socio-economy during the covid-19 pandemic. This research shows that the zakat management center plays an important role in helping the community who need help in terms of money, food and shelter. The results of this study also show the level of understanding of zakat management knowledge and also beneficial to be learned by the community.
