UiTM, Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying ARK732: International Study Workshop / Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying. [Teaching Resource] (Unpublished)

Abstract

The course provides a broad introduction to international architectural urbanism practices. The international workshop is offered during the semester holidays of May/June and November/December each year. The identified locations for the May/June programmes are in Europe and during the November/December semester breaks, it could vary indefinitely depending on the suitability of the acquired projects and the budget for the workshops. The international study workshop will be jointly conducted with peers from the various universities where the workshops are conducted. The international workshop is conducted over 4 weeks abroad and the remaining 2 weeks of the intersession are to be completed in UiTM. The course is intended to expose students to studying and working in a different context abroad so as to mould students’ awareness of venturing into global practices in the near future. This exploratory design research workshop combines site visits to prominent buildings and architects offices, and a life/theoretical intervention project on a controversial site of the city. This workshop is complimented by a series of lectures on contemporary architecture and urbanism by guest academics and professionals.
