Choirs may perform music from the classical music repertoire, which spans from the medieval era to the present, or popular music repertoire. In American musical life, choral music has always taken center stage. A study by Chorus America estimates that 42.6 million Americans participate in chorus singing on a regular basis. Choral singing is the most common form of participation in the performing arts for both adults and children, with more than 1 in 5 homes having at least one singing member. The body and the soul can benefit from music as art, amusement, pleasure, and medicine. All cultures have a deep connection to music, which has surprising advantages for developing physical coordination and development in addition to harpening focus and memory.
