Abstract

This course has two components. Component I - The course focus on the civilization and architectural history of major Asian regions by looking at the ancient and traditional architectural development within China, India and Japan. Reference is also made to the main chronological map to establish inter-cultural links of the different regions. Component II - The course focus on the development of Islamic architecture throughout the world until the present since the inception of Islam as a religion. It also inter-relates the concept of architecture with Islamic traditions and its contribution in arts, science and technology through the adoption of the belief that Islam is a way of life.
