Abstract

This course will engage students to cognitively identify the concept of supply chain in agriculture and its function, strategy and major trends. The designated lecture session is used to discuss the commercial and academic aspects of supply chain management which include procurement, the food manufacturing process, material management, inventory management, material handling, packaging, transport and information technology. Through classroom activities, students will recognize and relate the contribution of supply chain management to development of commercial agricultural production and corporate strategy of agricultural organizations and food producers. Students will be required to express verbally and in writing to peers and the facilitator the supply chain management at every stage of the chain (farm, manufacturing, process, retail and the final consumer).
