Abstract

As with prayer obligation, zakat is explained in general and not in detail. For example, the Qur'an does not explain the rate, nisab, type of property imposed on zakat or zakat conditions, but it is clearly understood from the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. However, the Qur'an clearly states the aspect of zakat distribution which should be given to eight specific asnaf. If amil does not have any information regarding other asnaf or zakat collection funds, then many scholars think zakat should be distributed to three asnaf zakat so that zakat can be properly utilized and can help the needy. Therefore, this study aims to examine the extent to which zakat can leave an impact or implications on the lives of the poor and the needy as zakat is already an obligation to Muslims. This study was evidenced based on data collection conducted through a survey form distributed to 96 zakat recipients which are asnaf groups. Subsequently, the findings were analysed using Microsoft Excel 2016 to get the right conclusions to achieve the study's objectives. The findings found that all efforts made by MAIPs in the zakat implementation system had a positive impact on awareness among the zakat payers. Therefore, as a result of the awareness arising among these payers affects the implications of zakat on the improvement of the standard of living of the zakat recipients.
