Abstract

The characteristics of access able city is the ability to provide an interesting experience through walking along the street within the city and also an efficient connectivity or network between one place to another for the users to actively walk through the street safely. A walking spot enables guests to enjoy walking in town. A pedestrian's feeling of comfort is determined by the environmental characteristics which make walking possible. This article focuses on urban walking in downtown Kuantan. This research is aimed at determining the satisfaction of the pedestrians with convenience on the basis of their experience in walking. The results indicate that most participants, especially in relation to the pedestrian amenities, are relatively happy with the level of convenience. Field surveys, in comparison, showed that the town center was poorly maintained because of the inappropriate conditions of walking and road furniture.
