Abstract

Today oil palm industry in Malaysia has grown wisely and it getting in the larger scale year by year, almost 1,874,000 ha been expended to become oil palm plantation in Malaysia. Malaysia made almost 17.89 tan per hectare and become second world’s premium producer of oil palm with 60% are from private company and almost 40% are from smallholder. Oil palm estate produce 80 tonnes of dry oil palm residue such as EFB. Abundance of EFB can contributed to health and environmental problems. The problem of smallholder to manage and using EFB. Smallholder focus on oil palm production while oil palm residue they just ignore. This created the abundance oil palm waste, for example major abundance of oil palm waste is EFB which can be found abundance at mill area. The objective of this was to investigate among smallholder the intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue. The objective been focus on identify the factor that influencing intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue and to examine the relationship between factor of intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue. The study been investigate at the oil palm plantation at Felda Tasik Chini in Pahang. The location was good to be choose due to larger amount of smallholder at that place. With the 340 of total population and the respondent been target is about 181 sample based on Krejcie and Morgan table. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) been use to conduct this study. A questionnaire based on survey that been conducted to smallholder to get their information, and the data received been analyze by using IBM SPSS software. The result show several factor that lead to the intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue that could lead the intention of oil palm residue such as subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, attitude and knowledge. This study highlight the factors that influencing intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue. It is very important to know which factor is influencing the intention. The most influencing factor that lead to intention of oil palm smallholder to used oil palm residue is subjective norm which is there are influence from government, family and friends itself. Thus it very important to government influence the smallholder toward intention of oil palm smallholder t used il palm residue. Government is the most influence so it need to encourage and motivate smallholder to use oil palm residue such as EFB.
