Abstract

Plantation employee is the individual who plays an important responsibilities in maintaining the output in oil palm industry. Recently, many oil palm plantation companies have faced the issue of inadequate workers. The reason why the turnover of the employees in the oil palm plantation industry is due to the greater danger in the agricultural sector. Similar to other sectors, agriculture is also considered to be one of the most dangerous sectors with high rates of accidental injury, death and work-related diseases. Farmers are also more vulnerable to ergonomic issues when working out their daily activity in agriculture. This research focuses on recognizing the accident that the employee always faces in oil palm plantation, identifying the factor that can minimize the danger of injury that occurs in oil palm plantation, and identifying the most crucial factor that can minimize the risk of accident in oil palm plantation. Researchers focus on the three factors that are proper management, skill worker and good worker’s attitude. This research was performed on the oil palm plantation in Lembah Kesang Estate Melaka, Malaysia. The population size is 60 employees and 52 employees were chosen to get the information based on Krejcie and Morgan table. A set of questionnaires was provided to the employees and used as the information from this studies. The data collected from this stage are also used to test the hypotheses. The finding indicated that all the factors that are proper management, skill worker and good worker’s attitudes have an adverse impact on the level of accident. The skill worker is the most influential independent variable that affects the dependent variable.
