Abstract

The coastal recreational park is defined as the outdoor activities at coastal area. The spaces are divided into active and passive recreation. The main focuses on activities are involving the coastal area, recreational park and natural forest. The conventional design gives negative effects include are loss of natural habitats, fragmented of green patch, compaction and sealing of soil. The design mostly failed cause of the design more aesthetic than functional. The challenged of the design recreational park near to the coastal area is the balance of the recreational park and coastal area. Hence, the aim of this study is a applying the eco-design approach to fulfill user needs, site functional and aesthetic aspects in enhancing the natural environment of the coastal recreational park. The objectives of this study are first, to identify the characteristic of the coastal recreational park for suitable public recreation activities by biological, physical and social. Next, the objective that is to create coastal recreational park by using the natural setting and natural environment. Last, the objective to propose a landscape master plan for coastal recreational park for Teluk Batik. The methodology was used in this project is made up of several stages, inventory analysis for collecting data, site synthesis for the sensitivity and suitability area of recreation and design solution to overcome the issues. The overall result will be used for masterplan development of Teluk Batik, Perak. Therefore, Teluk Batik is very suitable and strategic site study to enhance the natural environment that related with coastal recreational area because of is surrounding by natural forest. All the developments should be referring to the method that established by Ian McHarg in "Design with Nature" guide books. The reason is to create the development with most consideration to the environmental issue at coastal recreational park area. The design guidelines are preserving the natural ecology to sustain the existing biodiversity. As a result, Teluk Batik will bring a new experience for outdoor recreational activities at coastal area and will able to generate a source of income for economy in our country.
