Abstract

Rising Damp is the process of water rising up towards the buildings. The rising damp process quite happened on the old building due to aging and raise up of underground water. To study the rising damp, we need to understand the symptoms occur due to rising damp. A good knowledge is necessary in order to know the rising damp in detailed. To overcome this problem a study on the rising damp is needed to achieve the efficient result. The aim of this study is to understanding the rising damp behavior on the heritage buildings in Kuala Lumpur. In order to carryout this study, Bangunan Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur was selected as the case study because on the rising damp occur on this building. To achieve the goalof the study, a non-destructive dampness test and visual inspection will carry out to determine the behavior of the rising damp in this building. The result of the finding will be stated and explained in this study and the recommendation to overcome the rising damp will be proposed in last section of this dissertation.
