Abstract

Generally, construction industry throughout the world has positive perceptions on improving the overall construction industry performance. Therefore, construction industries in Malaysia are undergoing a change from a conventional technology to a more systematic and mechanized system technology like the new system now known as the Industrialized Building System (IBS). Either in bridge construction also give impact to our construction industry to change the method construction from conventional way to Industrialized Building System (IBS). This is because, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has been actively promoting the use of Industrialized Building System (IBS)in Malaysian Construction Industry since 1998 although the building project in Malaysia is still limited if compared to CIDB's target. However the cost of IBS is more expensive to compare with the conventional method but in a long term, IBS method could guarantee for satisfaction towards users like comparison on bridge method construction in both Penang Bridge. The data for this study were obtained through observation, questionnaires and interview conducted at two types of bridge construction projects is First Penang BridgeE36 and Second Penang Bridge E28.
