Waste practice and awareness about the effect of dumping thrash into the ocean on marine life among form five student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pulau Gaya / Muhammad Iqram Mohamad and Muhammad Alif Lutfi Ab Rahman

The research was conducted among Form Five students in SMK Pulau Gaya. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the awareness of students in SMK Pulau Gaya about Marine Life towards Dumping Thrash into the ocean. This data was collected using quantitative method through survey questionnaire. One hundred questionnaires were distributed to form five students in the school. The researchers analyzed the waste management practice among students in SMK Pulau Gaya and identified the level of student's awareness on the effect of dumping trash into the sea. The results of the survey show that the level of the awareness is low. Knowledge on 3R (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce) is moderate. The researchers also conducted the correlation analysis between factors that influence student's awareness of the effect of dumping trash into the sea and their level of awareness. The findings show that there is a high positive correlation between the awareness of students towards the effect of dumping trash into the ocean and awareness level and also the factors influencing awareness level.
