Identification of phytochemical constituents from leaves of Cissus rotundifolia / Nor Khalidah Torji Nordin

The major objective of this project is to investigate phytochemical constituents of Cissus rotundifolia. Several stages were taken in order to accomplish the project. The first stage is the extract of Cissus rotundifolia leaves was used. Next is the isolation of compound from the leaves of Cissus rotundifolia by using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Last but not least, the isolated compound was then identified by using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Several compounds were isolated from this research but the structures of the compounds could not be elucidated. Thus, further elucidation of extract is appropriate to proceed with this study.
