Android mobile application: French language learning tool for UiTM students / Mohd Naqib Mohd Jasmi

French language is one of the old languages since 14 century from the Roman Empire. It is now spread across the country and become famous to the world. In Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), learning a French language is one of the options available among other third languages. Nowadays, the percentage of students who take French language as their third language is increasing and based on observation, French language in UiTM requires a student to have four books for learning process. This is burden some as it is too many books for the student to carry. The difficulty of French language itself makes learning not an easy process as it challenges the pronunciation and comprehension of student. Apart from that, a lot of time is required for French language revision especially when students want to access or search the subject using Web browser from their laptop. Due to this drawback, an application is designed based on Android platform for mobile user with an interactive application for French language learning tool. Besides that, this application covers the UiTM French language syllabus equipped with all the contents, quizzes and audio of the dialogue involve based in the textbook. The application is developed using user-centered design approach which allow user to experience and learn about it. HTML and Java scripting language are used to develop this application and Adobe Phone gap Build to convert it into .apk format. Experimental findings show that the prototype is ready to be used by French language students and a Beta testing is performed to identify user acceptability of the application
