Abstract

Strategic information systems planning (SISP) has become increasingly paramount as organizations endeavor to leverage information technology (IT) applications to ameliorate efficiency, reengineer business processes, gain competitive advantage, and compete more efficaciously. SISP has been described as the process of identifying a portfolio of computer-based applications that will avail an organization in executing its business plans and realizing its business goals. It has become among the top ten issues faced by senior executives over the past 10 years. There are factors that urge the desideratum to implement the SISP initiative. It has been one of the critical issues in an organization. This project aims to identify the factors that significantly cognate to the SISP project deployment success in an organization. These factors include skills, cooperation from other departments, financial investment evaluation, human resources, facilities, IT infrastructure, IT organizational structure, and top management support and management commitment. The need to study the factors that contribute to the success of SISP implementation predicated on a broad set of organizational attributes of firm. The desideratum for information technology strategy development is being widely apperceived in the literature by virtually all researchers. A qualitative methodology was used to archive the objective on the research. The guideline is the artifact of the research. In-depth interview technique was used to collect the data of the research. The interview was done with the expert in SISP project implementation which had experience to handle four to five SISP project. Their experience in observing the factor that contribute to the project success is key to get the closest answer with regards to the topic. The validation of interview was done at the third session of interview. The matching process was also being done at the third round interview based on first and second sessions of interview. The guideline of the factors that contribute to the SISP project implementation success is the result from this research. The research limitation and recommendation for future study is included in this research.
