Abstract

Storytelling is one of the teaching pedagogy for in calculating values and attitudes. In language development, storytelling is also a practical tool and useful in learning language especially to children. However, the problem exists when the teachers have limited time in classroom for storytelling activities even though the students love this activity very much as they can practice their communication. The objectives of our research/project are to develop an interactive storytelling prototype with voice modality for children to learn English, test the functionality of the prototype and allow the user to be a part of the character that can interact with the story. The project will use speech engine to recognize children's voice. The application is supplement materials in mastering their target language learning at home as it brings a lot of benefits to the educational field, children and storytelling field.
