Abstract

This paper is focused on termite attack pattern effects to timber structure for timber houses due to the valuable of wooden structure of that particular house. The types of column such as half-concrete and half-timber column, timber column and concrete column have been chosen to be the case study in Besut Terengganu. The houses have been selected based on the type of column and the problem of termite that have at the houses. It will be divide into two different condition area which is wet area that near to river and dry area to find the different habitat of termite. The finding of this research where comparison have been make which is dry area and wet area, the termites at the wet area is more aggressive based on the factor of the termite pattern where they attack from build nest until reach the floor level to attack the houses that we call exploration tube nest. This happened because of factor of wet soil that easy to build the nest to reach the floor level.
