Abstract

The relief composition is made using off-cuts wood from unused material found in laser cutting machine. The overall composition is based on simple geometric form vertical and horizontal structures placed in space and combined with a non-objective composition. The form uses basic geometric structures three dimensional in space, drawn suspended and cantilevered in a direct unassuming approach perspective. The assemblies represent straight lines along a continuous path with clean breaks, intersecting, overlapping one another giving a sense of balance and harmony.
The art piece is composed with multiple layers of intricately cut pieces revealing its underlying form, weight, lightness, tonality, texture, intensity, hue and depth.
One unique feature of the work is that it is rendered in monochromatic black with small touches of basic colours highlighting the hub or focal point. To a certain extent the texture surfaces feel smooth and combined with rough and soft which may be felt with touch or tactile. This affects or arouses our emotions and gives a personal response, a sense of calmness with irregular vertical and horizontal structure that gives us a rhythmic impression.
