Urban Juxtaposition / Alias Yussof

I visually translate my urban landscape paintings about human habitation rather than the landscapes that refer to the natural world by extracting the hard – edged geometric shapes of the structural areas and the building blocks. As an artist, l chose to stylise the scenes, setting thestage for viewers to bring their imaginations and private meanings – recreating them through juxtapositions of the newly discovered colours which represent the culture and the sensibility of the people who inhabit these places. The blocks of colors injected into this work also symbolises contemporary society. This is what l attempt to portray as the subject of my painting besides highlighting a sense of space and depth while enjoying the three dimensional feel – in search of a new recognition of urban landscape.
