Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of Gliricidia spp mulching on the growth performance and yield of aerobic rice. It was conducted in the Greenhouse at UiTM Jasin. Melaka The objective of this study is to identify the paddy with mulching or without mulching has the best growth performance and yield on aerobic rice. This experiment was conducted in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There was two control and 5 replications that had been used. The treatments were mulching with Gliricidia spp and no mulching. The seedling of paddy was transplant to pot after 10 days of planting. Each of the treatment pot consists of 20 gram of Gliricidia spp mulching. The variety of aerobic rice that has been chosen is MRIA1 was taken from Seberang Prai. Pulau Pinang. The benefit of using aerobic rice is it can rapidly plant growth and the experiment w'as conducted until 100 days. It showed that the paddy with the application of Gliricidia spp mulching had better growth performance for all the parameters such as the height, the number of tiller and shoot biomass. Based on the research that have been done, it showed that the application of mulching on paddy plant can give many benefits because it have showed that it have significantly effect on plant growth compare to control treatment.
