Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the psychological factors (stress and neurotic personality trait) among young motorcyclist. The other reason of this study is to determine the effects of stress and neurotic tendency on risk taking behavior among young motorcyclist. The result of this study will be compared among the independent variable in relation to risky behavior. The overall sample of 277 respondents were chosen within the age range of 19 to 24 years old. All the respondents are also chosen from different faculties and from different semester. The study design is a cross sectional study as it is conducted at one single time by taking the cross section of the population. A total of three questionnaires (Motorcycle Rider Behavior Questionnaire, Stress scale questionnaire and Big Five-neurotic questionnaire) were distributed to the participants and audiometry test was conducted to measure the hearing health of the motorcyclists. One-way anova, exploratory analysis and comparing means of the objectives were conducted to prove the hypothesis. There is a significance between stress and neurotic personality trait. For auditory health effect of the respondents, the results were plotted with three different groups: hearing impairment, hearing affected at high frequency and normal hearing level. The effects of hearing impairment elaborated. The motorcycle rider behavior questionnaires: 48items were being explored and divided into six factors by using principal axis factoring and varimax rotation. The result were then being compared with the stress and neurotic personality trait to determine any significant value of the result. Risky behavior on motorcyclist should have been taken into contact in order to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities. Psychological factors played an important role in the relation of the motorcyclist risky behavior.
