The parents' comprehension on the benefits of music and perception towards their children's tertiary level study of music in UiTM / Azie Md Yassin

The purpose of this study was to investigate the comprehension and perception of parents of the benefits towards their children's tertiary level study of music in UiTM. The samples for this study were the parents of students of the Music Faculty, UiTM. The respondents for this study were fifty samples from semester one and two from Music Diploma Program. Findings show that the parents' understanding and comprehension of the benefits of music towards fetuses, babies, children, students, and adults. Most of the parents understand about the benefits of music on people. This study also shows the perception of parents of UiTM music students on their children's study of music in UiTM. Their opinions are mixed which is letting their children learn music in UiTM but not encouraging them to pursue a career as a stage musician.
