Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an umbrella term nowadays that it includes application of technology devices. The development of the technology was really fast according to the era of globalization. Everybody needs and everybody use this communication technology as a medium for them to interact with each other, either in a country and abroad. The examples of communications technology is such as radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software. The study examines the relationship between the factors contributes to ICT addiction among youth. A random sample of 133 youth from UiTM Cawangan Kedah who range from 20 to 22 years old were interviewed on the three major factors highlighted in this study since they are the largest population in UiTM Cawangan. The factors are included the social anxiety, self-depression and also state of solitude. Prior research done by researchers has identified the development of ICT addiction behavior among young adult which are the youth are getting worsen from time to time. Therefore the objective of this study is to investigate the extent of the ICT addiction among youth by using the sample size aged 20 to 22. It will be hoped that the result from 133 sample size can generalized the pattern of ICT addiction among youth in UiTM Cawangan Kedah.
