Abstract

As Malaysia continues to create in order to accomplish a high-pay country status, the requirement for foreign workforce to fill up low-skilled occupations in several sectors of the economy grows too. In spite of the fact that Malaysia needs foreign workforce so as to support its financial growth towards turning into a developed country, the presence of foreign workforce in Malaysia has achieved a few advantages and disadvantages to the country and its residents. Thus, the foreign workforce standout amongst the most talked about or discussed topic in the world. The significance to control the foreign workforce within a country, whether to confine or to support the inflow of this group depending on the country’s needs and situation is one of the worries that must be tended fittingly. This study aims to explore the impact of macroeconomic variables on the flow of foreign workforce. By studying the impact of unemployment rate, exchange rate and gross domestic product per capita on the flow of foreign workforce, it can ease the government to take any fitting measures in order to control the progression of this group of people in the near future.
