Financial literacy encompasses the critical knowledge and practical competencies necessary for navigating budgeting, saving, debt management, and investment planning. As Generation Z (Gen Z) transitions into adulthood amidst pervasive digitalization, escalating living expenses, and labor market volatility, financial capability has emerged as a cornerstone of socioeconomic resilience. While digital media affords unprecedented access to financial content, it concurrently exposes youth to algorithmic misinformation and speculative trends, exacerbating vulnerabilities rooted in documented knowledge deficits where only roughly 38 percent of the cohort exhibits basic financial proficiency. Compounded by student indebtedness and the precarity of gig-economy employment, deficient financial capability frequently manifests in debt accumulation, insufficient emergency reserves, and acute budgeting friction. This paper examines the systemic economic pressures confronting Gen Z and demonstrates how early, targeted financial education serves as an essential mechanism for fostering prudent financial decision-making, mitigating structural vulnerability, and securing long-term economic independence.
