Abstract

Solar cell is a semi conductor device that converts light into electrical current and voltage. The intensity of solar light is call Irradiance and it can be measure using a pyranometer. Currently, the available pyronometer in the market is expansive and not commercially available. The purpose of this project is to design and create a low cost solar irradiance (W/m2) meter using a solar cell. The solar cell produce short circuit current which Is linearly proportional to irradiance. The function of this meter is to convert the short circuit current to voltage using a transimpedance amplifier. The result of the converted current will then be display to LCD display using microcontroller PICJ6f873A. The voltage converted by amplifier is linearly proportional to the irradiance
