Abstract

This paper documents and analyzes the evaluation of academic achievement in the Building Services engineering course offered to Semester 4 students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at UiTM Johor Branch, Pasir Gudang Campus. The curriculum integrates fundamental and practical exposure to essential building support systems—such as electrical power systems, HVAC, firefighting, and building transportation (lifts and escalators)—while emphasizing sustainable development practices including energy efficiency, water conservation, and eco-friendly design. Student performance is systematically assessed through a structured framework mapping Course Outcomes (COs) to Programme Outcomes (POs), comprising a final examination (60% weightage mapped to CO1-PO1 for fundamental engineering applications) and laboratory assessments (40% weightage mapped to CO2-PO4 for practical investigations and CO3-PO9 for effective documentation and communication). Ultimately, the analysis of these combined theoretical and practical evaluation metrics provides critical insights into student mastery of both technical domain knowledge and professional engineering competencies.
