Abstract

Bringing STEM to Life: UiTM Medical Students Inspire Young Learners, a community engagement initiative designed to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) literacy among school-aged youth. By deploying undergraduate medical students as peer mentors and science communicators, the program bridges theoretical health sciences concepts with interactive, hands-on learning experiences. Evaluation of the initiative highlights three primary outcomes: (1) Enhancement of Youth STEM Interest and Literacy, demystifying medical sciences through experiential learning and practical demonstrations; (2) Development of Communication and Civic Engagement Skills in Medical Students, reinforcing the role of future healthcare professionals as community educators and advocates; and (3) Strengthening of University-School Partnerships, establishing scalable models for higher education institutions to foster early interest in science careers. Overall, this project demonstrates the value of student-led outreach in promoting STEM education and social responsibility within local communities.
