This introductory section highlights that balance is essential for netball players who frequently perform jumps landings and quick directional shifts to improve performance and prevent injuries. Although netball is widely played by recreational female athletes in Malaysia and the Commonwealth players often choose footwear based on appearance price or comfort rather than biomechanical support. Running shoes focus on forward motion and shock absorption while netball shoes offer lateral stability and traction needed for multi directional play. Additionally unstable surfaces like foam pads reduce sensory feedback and make maintaining balance more challenging. Because previous research mostly focuses on elite athletes or male sports this study investigates how shoe selection and surface type impact balance performance in recreational female netball players.
