Abstract

This study examined the relationship between social media usage and anxiety among one hundred twenty-one sports students at UiTM Seremban Three Campus using a quantitative correlational design. Addressing concerns regarding mental health burdens among student athletes, researchers assessed participants through the Social Media Use Scale and the General Anxiety Disorder Seven scale. Statistical analysis performed with SPSS revealed an overall social media usage mean score of three point eighty-seven with a standard deviation of one point forty-four, alongside an anxiety mean score of zero point ninety with a standard deviation of zero point sixty-six. Although overall anxiety scores remained relatively low, the substantial variability in usage patterns and anxiety symptoms among students highlights the importance of evaluating social media engagement as a potential factor influencing anxiety levels in this population.
