UiTM, College of Engineering (2025) FKE strengthens semiconductor benchmarking with FKTEN UniMAP, FKE UiTM Pulau Pinang, and CEDEC USM. Bulletin. College of Engineering, Shah Alam.
Abstract

This a three-day strategic benchmarking visit conducted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) to three prominent academic and research institutions: FKTEN UniMAP, FKE UiTM Pulau Pinang, and CEDEC USM. The initiative aimed to strengthen FKE's academic and technical expertise in semiconductor education and research. At FKTEN UniMAP, the delegation benchmarked specialized cleanroom facilities, infrastructure management, safety protocols, human resource allocation, financial operations, and the integration of advanced equipment for teaching and research. The engagement at FKE UiTM Pulau Pinang centered on academic collaboration, laboratory operational best practices, and procurement updates tailored for semiconductor instruction. Finally, the visit to CEDEC USM provided insights into microelectronic design, system integration, IC testing, application management, and strategies for establishing academic centers of excellence. Overall, this initiative delivered actionable insights for academic and technical management, reinforcing FKE’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s expanding semiconductor industry.
