Abstract

Stretching protocols are essential warm up components designed to improve joint mobility and lower the risk of injury, with static and dynamic methods being the primary approaches. Sprinting requires high levels of lower body explosive power, which can be effectively measured through vertical jump performance. To address the lack of research on how adolescent developing neuromuscular systems react to these methods, a study evaluated twenty one male sprinters between fourteen and seventeen years of age across two sessions separated by mandatory rest periods. Following a standardized general warm up, participants completed either held static stretches or movement based dynamic exercises targeting lower limb muscles before their peak vertical jump height was measured. The results aim to clarify the immediate impact of each stretching modality on explosive power output in young competitive sprinters.
