Abstract

Physical inactivity among university students is a growing health issue as academic pressures and lifestyle changes often lead to a drop in exercise levels. While students generally recognize the physical and psychological benefits of staying active, their reasons for exercising vary across health, social, performance, and psychological dimensions. Men often report higher motivation from challenge, enjoyment, and fitness development such as strength and endurance, whereas women are more frequently motivated by weight management. To address the lack of specific evidence at UiTM Seremban 3, this study aims to examine these exercise motives and gender differences to help design more effective campus physical activity programs.
