Abstract

Set pieces such as corner kicks and free kicks are decisive components of modern elite football, offering structured chances to influence match outcomes through strategic ball delivery into scoring zones. While extensive literature examines set pieces in European leagues, tactical patterns in major Asian competitions are less understood. To address this gap, a comparative quantitative analysis using systematic notational coding evaluated thirteen Asian Champions League matches from the twenty twenty-two season involving Johor Darul Ta'zim and Urawa Red Diamonds, employing statistical tests to examine differences in set piece execution and attacking productivity between the two clubs.
