Abstract

Rugby places substantial physical stress on the upper body during collisions pushing and repetitive ball handling, which often leads to delayed onset muscle soreness and reduced recovery. This study evaluated and compared the effectiveness of foam rolling and massage gun therapy as self-myofascial release methods to alleviate muscle pain stiffness and soreness in the upper limbs of rugby players. By comparing the mechanical pressure of foam rolling against the percussive stimulation of massage guns, the research seeks to establish optimal evidence-based recovery strategies to enhance post exercise upper body recovery and athletic performance.
