This study investigates emotional regulation among university athletes by comparing those competing in indoor environments against those in outdoor environments. Effective emotional regulation is crucial for athlete performance during training and competition, involving strategies such as cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. Although previous research has largely focused on comparing team and individual sports, this study addresses the gap regarding environmental settings. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, researchers collected data from nearly two hundred and fifty university athletes via the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Due to non-normally distributed data, non-parametric statistical methods were utilized to analyze and compare emotional regulation strategies across both indoor and outdoor sports contexts.
