Pioneering smart energy: revolutionizing renewables with VPP technology

UiTM, College of Engineering (2024) Pioneering smart energy: revolutionizing renewables with VPP technology. Bulletin. College of Engineering, Shah Alam.
Abstract

A pilot research project led by the Sustainable Energy Research Institute (SRI) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)—under the leadership of Prof. Ir. Dr. Nofri Yenita Dahlan and supported by a grant of RM1,132,164.00 from PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd. The study focuses on developing Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology that integrates solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage, and demand response into a distributed smart network. Implementation of this innovative technology has been shown to enhance electrical grid stability, reduce energy costs, and significantly lower the carbon footprint. These findings further reinforce the strategic roles of SRI and UiTM in driving the renewable energy transition and providing sustainable, resilient energy solutions for the future.
