Abstract

The structural scope and academic objectives of the 1st International Conference on Sustaining Developing Goals (SDG) Research @ Borneo and the 2nd Sabah International Virtual Innovation and Invention Competition (SIVIIC), held concurrently from September 30 to October 1, 2021. Hosted by the Department of Research, Industrial Linkages, Community and Alumni (PJIMA) at UiTM Cawangan Sabah, the dual event addressed the core themes of *"Addressing Glocal Challenges in Achieving the SDGs"* and *"Turning Covid-19 Uncertainty into Opportunity."* The SDG conference provided a multidisciplinary virtual platform across Science and Technology and Social Science tracks to share research, insights, and strategies aligned with the United Nations' 17 SDGs. Running alongside the conference, SIVIIC offered a competitive framework divided into Professional, Young, and Junior Inventor categories—engaging primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, and industry professionals. Together, these events facilitated knowledge exchange, research dissemination, and potential commercialization partnerships, highlighting the pivotal role of regional innovation and collaborative scholarship in tackling global challenges.
