The FKM Webinar Series 2020: Lightweight Electric Motor was held on 16 December 2020 from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm (Malaysia Time, UTC +08). The webinar featured four presentations covering various aspects of lightweight electric motor technology. Prof. Dr. Darius Gnanaraj Solomon from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India, presented on the development of lightweight electric motors, while Prof. Dr. Edison Gundabattini from VIT, India, discussed the cooling of electric motors. Ir. Ts. Dr. Rahimi Bin Baharom from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, presented permanent magnet DC motor: principle operation, construction and applications. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussain Bin Ismail from UiTM, Malaysia, discussed advanced manufacturing of functionally graded materials for electric motors. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Bibi Intan Suraya Binti Murat from UiTM. The programme provided participants with insights into the development, cooling, operation, construction, applications and advanced manufacturing technologies related to lightweight electric motors.
