Adjunct professor lecture on the application of ijtihad within the syariah courts

On 7 July 2022, UiTMLaw hosted the annual Adjunct Professor Lecture Series and featured YAA Dato Mohammad Adib Bin Husain, the Chief Syarie Judge of the Selangor State Sharia Justice Department. At the auspicious event, YAA Dato' presented a lecture entitled "The Application of Ijtihad within the Syariah Courts", which was held via the Zoom online platform. This lecture highlights the concept of ijtihad practised in the Syariah Court and the Importancе of understanding such a concept among judges, especially in the field of Sharia law in Malaysia. At the end of the lecture, YAA Dato' concluded that the judge's ijtihad is an essential pillar within the Sharia Legal Framework to promote the development of law and legislation. Although laws have been gazetted, there are still areas of ijtihad that judges can implement. The results of this judge's ijtihad would benefit the development of religion, law and the welfare of society.
