Abstract
The estate was bought by Borneo Abaca Limited establish by CDC in 1949 when Abaca hemp was cultivated. The cultivation of cocoa commenced in 1956 and later in 1959 oil palm planting was started. The property was acquired by Golden hope plantations Berhad in 1966 subsequently the estate ceased growing cocoa and has been conversed to full oil palm estate. In November 2007 the property involved with merging of 3 giant plantation company to be the largest plantation company in the world, Sime Darby Berhad. Tiger estate is situated off Jalan Merotai at a distance of 30 Km from Tawau and has Tiger hill as northern landmark. It can be reached in half an hour from Tawau,by road.
