Abstract

When a heat source comes into contact with a combustible material in the presence of oxygen, fire can occur in the building. Compared to outdoors, a fire in buildings is easy to develop and tends to double its size in minutes. Therefore, the objectives of this research were to identify the level of awareness among the school staff towards fire safety systems installed at primary schools, to determine the ability of the school staff on the application of firefighting system at primary school and to determine the facilitating factors in order the ability of the school staff on the application of firefighting system at primary school. This research was carried out in Batu Caves, Selangor, among primary school staff. The data for this research was collected using questionnaire. Subsequently, the data obtained was analysed by using SPSS version 25. The analysed data was presented in form of table and pie chart. The result from the survey indicates that, the staff posed high level of awareness about the firefighting system at school, they have ability on the application of passive system and active system. After that, there are three (3) facilitating factors that can promote and enhanced the ability of the staff on the application of firefighting system at primary school, school administrative should regularly talk to school staff about firefighting system during assembly period. After that, followed by school administrative should provide the school staff fire drill program. Lastly, school administrative should conduct the first fire drill within the first week of school.
