Plastic? no way!: encouraging a plastic-free campus culture

UiTM, UGC (2026) Plastic? no way!: encouraging a plastic-free campus culture. Bulletin. UiTM Green Centre, Shah Alam.

Abstract

As part of BIOWAVE: The Sustainability Movement, BIOSMARTEAM launched the Plastic? No Way! campaign on 13 June 2026 to encourage the UiTM Kuala Pilah community to reduce the use of single-use plastics. The initiative highlighted how simple lifestyle changes can contribute to protecting the environment while promoting more sustainable habits on campus. Throughout the campaign, educational posters, infographics and awareness materials were displayed to share practical information on reducing plastic waste. Students, staff and cafeteria vendors were also encouraged to support the initiative by using reusable food containers, tumblers and shopping bags instead of disposable plastic packaging. The campaign served as a reminder that sustainability begins with everyday choices. By adopting reusable alternatives and reducing unnecessary plastic consumption, members of the campus community took a small but meaningful step towards creating a cleaner and more environmentally responsible university.
