Seri Iskandar, 14 January 2026 – As part of its commitment to advancing sustainable campus practices, the Green Campus Committee of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak organised an awareness programme on Food Waste Processing into Valuable Resources Using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Technology. The briefing was held at Kolej Indera Sakti and marked the university's first step towards implementing a comprehensive Food Waste Initiative on Campus. The programme featured expert speakers from the Perak Tengah District Council (Majlis Daerah Perak Tengah, MDPT) and its strategic partner, Kebun Rahsia. The briefing was delivered by Mr. Iskandar Alif bin Haji Pahrurazi from the Municipal Services Division, Department of Environmental Health and Licensing, MDPT, together with Ms. Liyana Farhanah binti Noor Izan from Kebun Rahsia. The session introduced participants to the innovative application of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) as a natural biological agent for decomposing food waste into useful resources. The speakers highlighted the environmental benefits of BSF technology, including its potential to reduce organic waste sent to landfills, minimise greenhouse gas emissions, and support circular economy practices through sustainable waste management.
