Abstract
KEDAH, 18 June 2026 – The Sultan Badlishah Library (PSB), UiTM Kedah Branch successfully organised the E-Waste Recycling Awareness and Practice Campaign as an initiative to promote responsible electronic waste management among the university community and the public. The programme was conducted through a strategic collaboration with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), focusing on raising awareness of the environmental impacts of improper e-waste disposal. The initiative also supported the implementation of EKSA, green campus practices, and institutional Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts. Held at Sultan Badlishah Library from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., the programme collaborated with Keymaster, an ewaste collection and disposal vendor, providing staff and students with a safe platform to recycle unwanted electronic items such as mobile phones, computers, cables, chargers, printers, televisions, and other electronic devices. A knowledge-sharing session titled “The Dangers of E-Waste: Understanding the Risks and Proper Management Methods” was also conducted through Live@PTAR PSB, featuring invited speaker Encik Mohamad Najmi bin Mohamad Rasidi from the Department of Environment (DOE) Kedah. The campaign successfully attracted 229 participants through the live session, while 25 UiTM Kedah staff members contributed e-waste items for recycling. This initiative demonstrated UiTM’s commitment towards sustainable waste management, green campus development, and environmental responsibility.
