Abstract

Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak Branch (UiTMCS) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through the Sarawak Energy Tree Planting, Habitat Protection and Restoration Campaign 2021–2030, held at Dewan Jubli, UiTMCS Samarahan Campus. Organised in collaboration with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), the initiative forms part of SEB's target of planting 500,000 trees by 2030, contributing significantly to environmental conservation and carbon reduction efforts. The programme was attended by representatives from SEB and the management of UiTMCS, including Associate Professor Dr. Saimi Bujang, Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Razak Abdul Kadir, Ts. Dr. Noorsaidi Mahat as Coordinator of Sustainability and the UiTM Green Centre (UGC), Mr. Henry Teh from Digiland, as well as SEB personnel and UiTMCS students. The campaign marked the third consecutive year of collaboration between SEB and UiTMCS, reflecting the growing strategic partnership in promoting campus greening initiatives and fostering a culture of sustainability within the university community. Aligned with the aspirations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the programme also emphasised the development of graduates who are not only academically competent but also environmentally and socially responsible. UiTMCS remains committed to strengthening its green campus agenda through various sustainability initiatives, including Low Carbon Week, plogging activities and environmental awareness programmes, towards creating a greener, more sustainable and resilient campus for future generations.
