Residential colleges champion sustainable campus living

The Programme Lestari@kolejkediaman, UiTMCS Green Campus Programme was held at Ruai Penggawa, Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak Branch, Samarahan Campus. Organised jointly by the Campus Sustainability Committee and UiTM Green Centre (UGC), together with the Student Residence and Hospitality Unit (URHP), Student Affairs Division, the programme was officiated by Professor Firdaus Abdullah the Rector of UiTM Sarawak Branch and attended by Associate Professor Dr. Saimi Bujang, Deputy Rector of Student Affairs, Ts. Dr. Noorsaidi Mahat, Coordinator of the Sustainability Committee and UGC, members of the College Representative Committee (JPK), food vendors and invited guests. The programme reflects the university's commitment to strengthening its Green and Sustainable Campus agenda by emphasising the involvement of students and residential college communities as key drivers of grassroots change. Among the initiatives introduced were the Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) campaign, Plastic Free Wednesdays, a plastic usage charge to support the Campus Sustainability Fund, the provision of reusable bags, and activities aimed at promoting the physical and mental well being of the campus community. These initiatives are aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the university's sustainability agenda in fostering a more
environmentally responsible campus culture. With the commitment and support of the entire campus community, UiTM Sarawak remains confident in achieving its vision of becoming a more sustainable, healthy and resilient campus for future generations.
