ACIS mega gotong-royong programme fosters a culture of sustainability among the UiTM community

As a continuation of the Water and Electricity Conservation Awareness Campaign, the UiTM Green Centre (UGC) ACIS, in collaboration with the ACIS Welfare Body and the ACIS Infrastructure Committee, organised the ACIS Gotong-Royong 2.0 Programme with the theme "Sustainable ACIS, Shared Responsibility" on 22 May 2026 at Cempaka 5 Building, Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), UiTM Shah Alam. The programme involved approximately 90 ACIS members, comprising academic staff, administrative staff, and student representatives. Activities included cleaning and reorganising storage rooms on all four levels of the Cempaka 5 Building, disposing of unused furniture and equipment, repairing and repainting students' wooden chairs, as well as beautifying the Knowledge Garden (Laman Ilmu) and student spaces. The programme reflects the shared commitment of the ACIS community to fostering sustainable practices through more systematic management of space and assets, the reuse of facilities that are still in good condition, and the continuous maintenance of the campus environment. In addition to creating a cleaner, safer, and more conducive environment, the programme also strengthened teamwork, responsibility, and appreciation for university facilities among ACIS members. The ACIS Gotong-Royong 2.0 Programme also supports UiTM's Green Campus agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Through the approach of "From Awareness to Sustainable Action," the programme serves as an important platform for strengthening the culture of sustainability, which is the core of the ACIS Green Centre Unit's activities.
