Abstract

Biodiversity is known to promote the mental well-being of people and the benefits of nature on mental well-being are extensively acknowledged, yet the role of nature biodiversity is often overlooked, with nature being treated as a homogeneous entity. Recognizing the complexity of perception and experiential processes, this study examines how biodiversity at the Taiping Lake Garden can help or hinder short-term psychological recovery among visitors. The objective of this study is to access visitor’s psychological restoration experiences of biodiversity in public parks. Next is to provide recommendations on biodiversity (flora and fauna) for future public park planning and design. This study employed a quantitative study using questionnaire (n=51) were distributed among users in Taiping Lake Garden. The results of the study show that biodiversity (flora and fauna) influences psychological recovery. The findings will inform evidence-based park design and management in Malaysia.
